About Courage360

Location:

3516 South 47th St. Suite 205, Suite 205, Tacoma, WA 98409, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Courage360 is to assist low-income individuals to gain the skills, the knowledge, and the courage to be self-supporting

Description

Courage360 was created in 1982, when four Pierce County women saw a 60 Minutes program featuring Lupe Anguiano, a former nun turned social activist. Anguiano had created a program in Texas that helped women on welfare gain the work skills they needed to secure employment and get off of public assistance. The four women recognized that their own community had the same need; many local women were unemployed or under-employed, forced to rely on government subsidies, and had nowhere to turn for training that could improve their lives. They founded their own program, Washington Women’s Employment and Education, to close this gap in services, enhance the employability of low-income women, and increase women’s participation in the local workforce. In the 33 years since, we have consistently provided services that allow our clients to stabilize their housing, pursue higher education, and secure employment, leading them to financial stability. In October 2014, we changed our name to Courage360 to better reflect the comprehensive approach that we take in serving our clients, and celebrate the strength our clients find and the 360ยบ change they achieve in our programs.
