"Volunteers: the Heart of Hospice"

Seeking compassionate, conscientious individuals to provide support to patients and their families who are in the last months of their lives. Good listeners and good co nversationalists needed in our Las Vegas, NM area.

Hospice Compassus volunteers play a vital role in preserving each patient’s dignity while removing the fear associated with dying. Individuals who are 18 and older who are willing to share one to four hours per week are encouraged to apply to our program.

Medical students, nursing students, journalists/writers (opportunities for writing patient's memoirs or oral histories), music lovers, crafts, card players....the list is endless. We need your skills! OR, just someone to hold a hand....

No previous experience in the medical field is necessary, and you will be prepared for your role with a free, comprehensive training program. Depending on your interests and schedule, you may:

• offer companionship and respite care for patients and their families.
• provide professional services such as massage, music or pet therapy, or hair care.
• assist with care for patients’ pets.

If you have experienced the loss of a loved one, it is suggested that for one year following the death of a loved one before volunteering. There are, however, several other volunteer opportunities available for survivors who have experienced recent losses:

• office support.
• special events.
• community awareness.
