National Volunteer Week 2021 Is Here!
Celebrate with us as we highlight #ArtAsActivism!
St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center
Children in our Program improve on average between half to a full grade level per semester.
Volunteers act as one-on-one tutors for children in grades 1-5.
Tasks will include reading with a child and helping them with basic math.
Our curriculum focuses on math, reading and language arts. All lessons, worksheets, learning games, and materials are prepared by staff and ready for the volunteer tutor and student to work on together.
We tutor through Zoom, currently, due to COVID-19.
On top of the challenges created by inequality and poverty, COVID-19 is compounding what our students have to contend with to learn and better themselves and their situations.
Our FREE programs are designed to break through the barriers to education that many residents in our area face. Will you help our students?
The Children's Tutoring Program runs from 10 am - 6:00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Tutoring sessions are 1 hour long and each child is scheduled for 2 sessions a wee.
We will work with your schedule. You can volunteer as little or as often as you like. Volunteer once, once a month, once a week or more often.
We continually accept volunteers. All experience levels welcome, we will provide orientation/training.
Volunteer to help us provide FREE basic skill-building and academic enhancement to at-risk children.
