Summer Program planning to be IN-PERSON.
On top of the challenges created by inequality and poverty, COVID-19 is compounding what our students have to contend with to learn and better themselves and their situations.
Our FREE programs are designed to break through the barriers to education that many residents in our area face. Will you help our students?
Children in our Program improve on average between half to a full grade level per semester.
Volunteers act as one-on-one tutors for children in grades 1-5.
Tasks will include reading with a child and helping them with basic math.
Our curriculum focuses on math, reading, and language arts.
Volunteers must be vaccinated.
If COVID numbers are too high- it will be remote-
The Children use an online learning platform that volunteers will assist them with during the tutoring sessions.
Any other lessons, worksheets, learning games, and materials are prepared by staff and ready for the volunteer tutor and student to work on together.
We tutor through Zoom, currently, due to COVID-19.
The Children's Summer Tutoring Program runs from 10 am to 6:00 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Tutoring sessions are 1 hour long and each child is scheduled for 2 sessions a week.
We hope volunteers can work at least once a week with a child but are open to discussing other schedules.
We continually accept volunteers. All experience levels are welcome, we will provide orientation/training.
Volunteer to help us provide FREE basic skill-building and academic enhancement to at-risk children.
