Would you like to help vulnerable seniors? The Ombudsman program is looking for people interested in acting as advocates for residents in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. As an advocate you will be assisting residents to resolve their complaints or concerns regarding their care or other issues while at the facility. Volunteers interface with the facility staff, residents family and outside agencies. Our volunteer's make regular facility visits to talk with residents, advocate to improve the resident's quality of life, and with a focus on maintaining resident rights.

The mission of the County of San Diego Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is to advocate for dignity, quality of life, and quality of care for all resident in long term care facilities.
The Ombudsman program is a volunteer program that investigates and resolves complaints of residents residing in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. Ombudsman are a regular presence in the facilities and investigate issues of elder abuse. Their primary focus is to be a resident advocate, advocating with the facility, to ensure that a resident's rights and safety are protected.
