The National Veterans Art Museum inspires greater understanding of the real impact of war by collecting, preserving, and exhibiting art inspired by combat and created by veterans. NVAM is home to over 2,500 works of art from over 250 artists, with Vietnam veteran artwork constituting a majority of our collection.
Currently, NVAM is seeking greeters for the fall. Greeters will work on general front desk duties, as well as special events assistance.
Some of the tasks that volunteers would perform are:
Front desk duties (answering phones, greeting visitors, answering questions).
Data entry.
Assist in the set-up and takedown for events and group tours.
Provide tours (following training by staff if approved).
Basic gallery and workspace cleanup and maintenance.
Volunteers will gain experience in customer service, event planning, and computer skills. In addition, volunteers may have the opportunity to gain experience in conducting group tours. There will also be opportunities to perform a variety of computer work, such as assisting in social media posts or basic historical research.
Start and end times are flexible, as well as set hours. Ideally, we are looking for volunteers to come in at least once a week for at least 3 hours. However, we will gladly work with one's schedule. Please e-mail Ms. Monse Wisdom at mwisdom@nvam.org with any questions.
