The Be A Leader Foundation has set out to change our educational landscape and needs the support from our entire community to empower children and their families to adopt a college-going mentality and become college bound, focused, and prepared.
Join our Community as we literally take steps towards college success. This event will begin with a college-going resource fair and will culminate at the National Assocaiton for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) College Fair. The walk is only two blocks.
We will we need as many volunteers to help open and close our event. We have various volunteer positions. There are two shifts, one of the them begins in the morning section and the other in the afternoon.
Volunteer positions can go from helping to set up signs, be a greeter, help at registration, help create posters, and much more.
If this is something you truly want to engage and become part of the wonderful community please email us with your information and number so we can send you more specific information about our event.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to increase the number of college-going students by empowering them to become college bound, focused and prepared through leadership training and mentoring.
Description
The Be A Leader Foundation designs programs that provide a positive learning environment and a college-focused mentality for each participant to develop their high school and college educational plan. We work directly with middle school and high school students in primarily inner-city schools to engage them into active development of their self esteem, leadership skills and long term preparation. Ultimate success is achieved through our long-term relationship and stewardship of their educational evolution from middle school into high school, culminating with active participation at the university level and ultimately a college degree. Be A Leader Foundation programs include:
- Be A Leader Institute Elementary (BLIE) program for seventh grade students
- BALF Valedictorian Club program for eighth grade students
- Youth Leadership Conferences (YLC) for 8th graders
- Be A Leader Institute High School (BLIH) for high school students
- Elementary and High School "Be A Leader Clubs"
- BALF Leadership Scholarship Programs to support and mentor middle, high school and college students
- Be A Leader Institute College (BLIC) and College Summer Internship Programs.
- Senior Boot Camp (SBC) for selected high school seniors
BALF has set high standards for our programs and has created one specific performance target for each and every one of our participants - Get a college degree! This is a year long commitment and our workshops begin every fall (August) through Spring (May).
