Older adults often experience isolation. Older adults living with memory loss, possibly more so. At Elderwise, we recognize and nurture the value of all people. Imagine the freedom experienced when one is truly encouraged to contribute; the confidence felt when expressions are validated. Imagine programming that builds on strengths, and allows everyone to shine. Whether through conversation or artistic engagement, participants in our programs find joy, grow, create authentic connection, and often share stories of deep contentment and gratitude for being a part of our community. We want to reach more people, and need you to help weave new stories of connection and community for those living with memory loss.

Creative Outreach Programs are Elderwise offerings, in partnership with other organizations in the community that aim to engage the person living with dementia in a meaningful and creative way. They can, among others things, include artistic work, painting in Seattle's beautiful parks, dialogue, storytelling and intergenerational experiences and urban farming.

Trained Elderwise volunteers are very important and will assist Elderwise facilitators in bringing enrichment offerings both (art and other) to persons living with dementia in our Creative Outreach programs throughout the greater Seattle area.

In helping bring our outreach programs to more older adults in the senior area, you may:

* set-up and clean-up art supplies and support a lead facilitator

* provide companionship, conversation, and stand-by physical assistance on outdoor walks

* let your inner actor or musician shine

* greet and welcome participants, and support conversations among event attendees

During your time at Elderwise, you will enjoy mindful engagement and the satisfaction of playing a key role in a meaningful offering and help share in our passion of making Seattle a dementia-inclusive community.
