Kids Vision for Life St. Louis provides free comprehensive vision services, including vision screenings, eye exams, and prescription eyewear for elementary school students around the St. Louis area. Our vision is to give students with visual impairments free glasses in order to provide the best education possible. Many families do not have the ability to provide eye care for their children, which can be detrimental to their education.
Last year, KVFL visited 91 elementary schools and prescribed over 2,700 pairs of eyewear for students. During the 2015-2016 school year, KVFL plans to increase its outreach to 130 schools and prescribe 5,000 pairs of glasses.
With our rapid growth comes an increase in demand for volunteers. We need volunteers to go with us to different schools in the area and conduct vision screenings. We train all volunteers on site, so no previous experience is needed. We do screenings every day at a different school from 9:00am-2:00pm and typically have 4 volunteers a day. Volunteers will get the chance to make a difference in hundreds of children’s lives in just one screening day.
If you want more information about what we do, you can visit our website: www.kidsvisionforlifestlouis.com . We also have a SignUpGenius link, which makes it easy for volunteers to pick the day and location that they want to serve.
