Kids and Mentors Outdoors (KAMO) is a non-profit, all-volunteer group that gets kids bewtween 8 - 17 outdoors year around. Activities include hiking, biking, hunting, birdin watching, fishing, skiing, canoeing, boating, camping, photography, snowshoeing, orienteering, and more.
KAMO has gotten substantial publicity latley and subsequently, we have a lot of people knocking on our door for a mentor for their child. We also hear from would be mentors on a regular basis. We have the capacity to expand outside La Crosse into neighboring counties at this point.
KAMO needs some dependable mentors to work with children in the area. A few of these children have special needs, but largely our kids are not needy.
There is no pressure for the mentor - we don't ask ask our mentors to raise funds, to be more participative, to attend meetings, to be at a place at a certain time. Mentors can work with a specific child if that is what they want or just come to our activities.
Mentors do not need to be experienced in the outdors necessarily - just have an interest in being around kids in an outdoor setting.
