We are currently recruiting for the 2022-2023 school year for both our kindergarten and first grade program at three of our APS locations, including Atrisco Elementary, Bel-Air Elementary, Whittier Elementary, and East San Jose Elementary.
Individuals from area businesses and the local community, including retirees, professionals, college students, and veteran are invited to commit an hour and a half each week to tutor two kindergarten or first grade students, one-on-one, for 30-minutes each. The kindergarten and first grade sessions will run back to back, so, if you'd like, you can tutor at both levels, which would be about a 3-hour weekly commitment.
During the session, the tutor and student work on reading, writing, and skills development aligned to the student’s abilities and the current classroom curriculum.
The tutoring sessions take place every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings.
Please help us in creating access for these students to invaluable reading skills and interventions.
