Girls On The Run

Adult volunteers are needed for the following ten week programs beginning March 14, 2016. Coaches are needed to meet with teams 2 afternoons per week for an hour and fifteen minutes per session.

Girls on the Run is a non-profit prevention program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. Adult volunteers are needed for this amazing program which combines training for a 5K running event with self-esteem enhancing workouts and curriculum-based lessons. Teams meet two days a week after school at specified elementary and upper elementary schools in Farmington Hills. Our 5K event for this season will take place on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016.

Stride is a fun, after-school character development program for boys in 3-5th grade. Throughout the program, the focus is on doing one’s personal best, not competing with each other. The 10-week program is led by volunteer coaches who guide and mentor the boys through an uplifting and physical curriculum that covers different topics such as positive sportsmanship, goal setting, bullying, and making healthy choices. Our 5K event for this season will take place on Sunday, Nov 20, 2016.

For more information please contact Tanya Murphy - Volunteer Coordinator at 248-553-4020 ext. 124 or tmurphy@ymcametrodetroit.org.

We do NOT accept any court ordered volunteers.
