Apple Harvest
A great day volunteering with Community Harvest Project with my team!

Community Harvest Project is seeking Volunteer Team Leaders to assist with leading volunteer groups during our busy apple harvesting season. This rewarding experience involves assisting the staff at our Prospect Hill Community Orchard in Harvard with organizing and executing the daily work of the farm. We host up to 30 volunteers daily from 9:00 AM to Noon to pick, sort and package apples for distribution to local hunger relief partners throughout Central and Eastern Massachusetts. No commitment necessary, you volunteer as much or as little as your schedule allows. It is a great opportunity for retirees to engage with community, all ages are welcome. This role assists our team in managing the volunteer activity while they assist in the important work of the orchard and help to support our mission. Spend time in the outdoors during the fall on our beautiful Prospect Hill Community Orchard property. Strong communication skills and leadership ability will help you to navigate this rewarding role engaging diverse groups of volunteers. No experience necessary, we will train you for the role.

Mission Statement

Community Harvest Project (CHP), a 501(c)3 organization, is dedicated to creating healthy and engaged communities through volunteer farming and nutrition education for those who are experiencing food insecurity. Through their volunteer farming, education, and leadership programs they bring thousands of community members together each year. In 2022 they hosted 6,076 volunteer visits that allowed for 1.4 million servings of fruits and vegetables to be grown and donated through partnerships including the Worcester County Food Bank’s hunger relief network, Community Servings, and Hector Reyes House. Through their efforts they provide a significant amount of fresh produce for individuals and families in need in our community who otherwise may not have had access.

Description

We are a volunteer based non-profit community organization that grows fruit and produce and donates the majority of what we grow to the hunger relief network in Eastern and Central Massachusetts. Volunteers participate in all facets of the organization, we are volunteer centered and a certified Service Enterprise through the Points of Light Foundation.
