Help inspire the youth

Serves as Tutor for the STEM Tech Tutorial Program to assist students having difficulty with their school subjects. [Children are very impressionable and easily distracted by their friends and activities in their surroundings including social media and negative influences during unsupervised hours (3pm to 9pm) after-school. Often these situations lead to poor academic grades, referrals for mischievous behavior and sadly juvenile criminal activities]. Children need supervision to be taught time management and study habit skills for academic success.

Become familiar with the school and academic curriculum of each student you are assigned to tutor. Establish a cooperative partnership with each student, their teachers, parents and school counselors. Work within this partnership to understand the student’s strengths, potential for mistakes, their interest and influences obstructing their progress.

Develop a tutoring plan specific to each student to improve their attitude about learning. Have students demonstrate their understanding of assignments. Develop an improvement plan for study habits and classroom participation skills. Report any unusual behaviors or concerns to the Tutorial Program Manager.

Wear STEM Tech Picture ID Badge as an official team member recognized by staff, students, parents and guests. Task resources: Edline, CPLAMS and the tutoring video, and MobyMax Education Software to be provided.

Performs other duties as required.
