The Park has Hosts and Greeters who welcome visitors
and provide staff relief at the Ranger Station, Beach Gate
entrance and other locations as needed. Volunteers also
present educational programs to the public, including
school groups, on the plants and animals in the Park,
intertwining a very rich history dating from prehistoric
times to the present.

Mission Statement

Friends of Birch State Park is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization formed to help preserve, conserve, enhance, and promote Hugh Taylor Birch State Park through community support.

Description

Founded in 1999, the "Friends", also known as a citizens support organization (CSO) is a 501[C] 3 non-profit corporation whose function is to generate and employ additional resources and support for and in the best interest of Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. This is done through providing special work projects, special events and programs, community outreach programs, educational activities, guided tours and communications, special exhibits, interpretive programs, fund raising activities, purchasing new equipment and supplies, and providing assistance to the park staff with any activity which is designed to meet the additional needs of the park to support the preservation and enhancement of the park’s cultural natural resources.

The Park offers a wonderful opportunity to:

• Meet new people and use your talents and experience
• Be in a natural environment
• Work with visitors from all over the world
• Assist in maintaining our award-winning Park
• Earn community service hours

Our volunteers are ambassadors for Hugh Taylor Birch
State Park and the Florida Park Service. They offer
crucial information about the park’s operations, natural
communities, and plant and animal species. They are
professional, friendly, enthusiastic and love being part
of something truly meaningful.
