ORGANIZATION: Montgomery Parks, M-NCPPC

  • 7 people are interested

Nature Ambassadors are Montgomery Park's elite corps of TEEN volunteers who support special events at our four nature centers and Brookside Gardens from September 2017 through May 2018.

Nature Ambassadors commit to 9 nature themed special events (approximately one a month), working directly with Park's professional naturalists and horticulturists, and gain real skill and experience - invaluable if you're interested in a career in the natural sciences!

Activities may include leading groups of children on a leaf scavenger hunt, showing visitors how to make apple cider with a cider press, introducing visitors to monarch caterpillars, assisting with bat crafts, and helping kids and their parents understand the process of turning maple sap into syrup!

Training will be held at one of the nature centers in early September. Volunteers will then create their schedule by selecting a minimum of 9 of the 26 one day events held at the four nature centers and Brookside Gardens.
