Cherishing the divine within all!

Engage children with emotional and behavioral challenges in vocational learning activities. Villa Maria School is looking for individuals to help our Pre-Vocational Center teacher with classroom activities, such as cooking, woodworking, sewing, and nutritional projects - to name a few!

Hours or times of day volunteers are needed: Any time during Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays from 9:30-2:30.

Special skills required or recommended for this position: No special skills required!

Details:

Classes to teach life skills to Villa Maria School children are held at the Maura Pre-Vocational Center. Join our pre-vocational teacher and other volunteer assistants in helping facilitate activities to prepare kids aged 5-14 with practical and career-related skills. Note: the Pre-Vocational Center serves Villa Maria School of Dulaney Valley (VMS - DV) in Timonium but is located on the Pot Spring Campus, about a mile away, adjacent to St. Vincent’s Villa.

No special skills required. If you don’t know how to sew, you might learn as you volunteer! However, the children love to hear from people with diverse skills and backgrounds. Maybe the class can prepare a dish from your culture of origin, or perhaps you can demonstrate the implements of your trade. Support of existing or new activities would be a great help.

While there is no application deadline, the following dates might be taken into consideration:

  • Both VMS-DV and the Pre-Vocational Center follow the Baltimore County Public Schools calendar, so Monday August 24 th is the starting day for the Fall 2015 semester.
  • Aside from an application and background screening, on-going volunteers are required to attend a Pre-Service Training. The next sessions are scheduled for the evenings of August 27 th and November 5 th.
