ORGANIZATION: Huron River Watershed Council

Our trained volunteer leaders and collectors are what make our River Roundups great! If you have experienced a River Roundup, you should train to be a team Leader or Collector. The training consists of three parts:

Leader Training- Spend one hour learning about the data sheets and some important information about the river system. This will enable you to be very helpful as a Team Leader during the River Roundup. [Qualifications: You only need to have experienced either a Roundup or a Stonefly Search before doing this.]

Bug Show- A dazzling presentation of the amazing insects that live underwater in our streams. Learn where they live, how they hunt and fish for their meals and what their mating entails.

Collector Training- After a brief introduction we will carpool to a nearby site and practice techniques in the stream to thoroughly search for bugs in all kinds of habitats.
Qualifications: You only need to have experienced a Roundup or Stonefly Search before becoming a Collector. Teachers who want to learn collecting techniques for classroom use are welcome to join us with permission from Jason: email jfrenzel@hrwc.org.
