How Volunteering with Hospice of Michigan can be enriching for you and our patients
We know that if you are looking at this posting you are likely someone who is committed to their community, has a heart for helping others, and may have been personally touched by an experience with hospice.
We are working to build a group of Hospice of Michigan volunteers in the Dearborn, Taylor, and Monroe areas who are interested in visiting with patients in their homes, in a senior living community or even in the hospital.
Visiting with a hospice patient could mean reading to them, watching TV, talking with them and sharing stories, visiting them with your pet, or something unique to the patient's and your interests. The impact that you can make to assist in reducing stress for both the patient and the family can be huge; the impact on you can be huge too.
We want to know how you are interested in volunteering and what you want to do in giving back to your community and helping our patients and families. We offer training, ongoing educational opportunities, coaching, job shadowing and more. Our volunteers participate in an interview, are screened through a background check and fingerprinting and stay current on their TB Tests and educational offerings. On average, our volunteers visiting with patients volunteer 2-8 hours a month.
