The OC Race for the Cure is an iconic OC event which will take place at Fashion Island, Newport Beach on Sunday September 23, 2018. The funds raised at this event support local breast health services and national breast cancer research.

We need volunteers for our Pink Cheer Zones on the course! We want every participant at the Race for the Cure to feel inspired throughout the entire event and encouraged while they run or walk the 5K course. The Pink Cheer Zone provides a much needed boost along the 5k course and a well-deserved celebratory moment at the finish line for all.

"VolunCheers" should be aged 12 and up, and groups should have a minimum of 1 chaperone per 10 youths. Every participant and group leader MUST sign up as a volunteer online. Mission Statement

Our promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

Description

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Race for the Cure, we have invested nearly $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world. The Komen Orange County Affiliate has been making strides in our community since 1991. The Affiliate is proud to have raised nearly $15 million on behalf of the Komen promise.
