Contra Costa Interfaith Housing provides permanent housing with vital support services to formerly homeless & poverty-impacted families and individuals in Contra Costa County. When a new family or individual is placed in housing, we make sure that their apartment is furnished with gently used and some new items. We typically move 10-12 families/individuals per year within the county. The address provided is our headquarters. Usually, we will find items on craigslist or similar to pick and deliver to our families. As we are not in the business of maintaining inventory, we look to volunteers to help with pick up and delivery of items. We always look to keep pick ups and deliveries within Contra Costa County.
We are looking for individuals that don't mind giving their time during the weekdays (M-F) during the 10a-4p hours. This is perfect for the person who works locally or from home; retired; has weekdays off. We usually are able to find support in lifting and moving the items into and out of the truck. However, few times we may need the volunteer's help (rare).
CCIH discovered 10 years ago that in order to win the battle of homelessness, we need to work very hard to keep permanent rooves over the heads of our families and individuals. We work tirelessly to make sure that life skills are learned, that bills are paid, that school grades are kept up.
