ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross-Indiana Region

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The American Red Cross Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) is launched the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign (HFPC) in October 2014. Its goal is to reduce the rate of deaths and injuries due to home fires by 25 percent over 5 years. Our strategy includes participating in a community coalition that targets neighborhoods at-risk for home fires; installs and tests smoke alarms; and provides fire safety and disaster preparedness education/planning. This position exists primarily to ensure all needed locations, personnel, materials and equipment are acquired, ready, and in place for rallies, and other associated HFPC events. The logistics lead also helps coordinate use of vehicles, staging areas, any refreshments, supplies and other needed logistical support.

OPEN TIME DAYS
40-60 hours over the course of 2-3 months

REQUIRED TRAINING
  • Orientation to American Red Cross (online)
  • Disaster Services: An Overview (optional but highly reccommended)
  • HFPC Guidance and Training: Safety for Home Visits, Fire Safety and Disaster Education, and other required training.
