The Archivist Assistant is responsible for supporting studio archivers to record and catalog the creative output of the studio. This may include, but is not limited to: photographing artwork, locating and identifying information and distributing that content and information for use inside and outside The Arts of Life. This position is intended to support our current archivers in their role. We will be expecting a lot from you and we always want you to feel you can share your ideas and/or concerns with anyone involved in the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient with MAC platform and iPhoto
- Background in photography and photo editing
- Experience uploading images to websites
- Experience using Google Drive
- Previous archiving experience is a plus
- Background and interest in visual arts is helpful
RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Preparation
Percentage of time - 30%
Set up Archivist and archiving station
Assist archivist in planning their daily schedule
Find and locate art tags
Communication with studio archivers
Maintaining our Digital Catalog
Percentage of time 50%
Upload images to iPhoto on Mac
Assist archivist in capturing high quality photos of artwork through:
Editing and color correction
Consistently focused photos
Maintaining even lighting
Attention to Detail
Organize and Maintain our flat file system
Maintain Spreadsheets and Catalogs
Organize and maintain physical storage of artwork
Take on archiving side projects as needed
Miscellaneous Duties
Percentage of time - 20%
Troubleshooting web errors
Maintaining our gallery space
Responding to the needs of community members through floor support
Other misc. duties related and necessary for archiving our materials.
