ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - National Headquarters

Purpose:
The American Red Cross strives to make the nation safe with preparedness, response, and recovery services that are consistent and integrated regardless of the scale of operation. The Disaster Operation Coordination Center Volunteer serves the mission of the Red Cross by providing support and resources to the disaster workers that are directly providing services to those impacted by disaster. Volunteers make up 90% of our workforce and every contribution supports the strength, strategy, and the safety of the nation.

Key Responsibilities:
Volunteers will be exposed to a variety of enriching and fulfilling experiences and opportunities that impact their community. A DOCC volunteer will help with some or all of the following:

• Docent Tours: Conduct and schedule DOCC tours by receiving tour requests in proper format, escort group from time of arrival to departure, and provide tour of the DOCC, DigiDoc, and the disaster briefing space.
• Project Management: Support a team in current projects using your talents in order to provide efficient service delivery to our stakeholders.
• Administrative tasks: File, review, disseminate, and log electronic correspondence pertaining to active disasters, coordinate meeting and tour calendar for the Coordination Center.
• Dispatch calls from those impacted by a fire or natural disaster: As a dispatcher, you are the first Red Cross point of contact with a client, helping to dispatch a local team that can provide immediate assistance.

Qualifications:

• Great customer service
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Microsoft, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
• Detail oriented
• Flexible and adaptable to changing environment and tasks
• Willing to learn, independent worker

Time Commitment:
Recommended time commitment of 5-10 hrs/week, at minimum 3 hours a day. Let us know of your availability, and we will best utilize your talent and time to support our mission.
