Help tutor our GED preparation students.

Must be proficient in High School Math (Algebra and Geometry

tutor residents to help them prepare for the GED exam or assist our aftercare clients who are enrolled in college classes.

Every resident in the Life Skills Program takes the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) test in order for the staff to create an individualized plan based on the resident’s needs.

The Education and Career Center provides many opportunities for residents in the one year Life Skills Program and for those in Aftercare to move forward.

The Education and Career Center provides GED classes for all residents who do not have a GED credential. This program includes individual online preparation, one-on-one tutoring, homework assistance, and pretests.

The Education and Career also offers classes for residents including:

  • Business Communication
  • Computers 101
  • Work Readiness
  • Reasoning Skills
  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People


For Aftercare residents who choose to go to college, the Education and Career Center provides assistance with registration, homework, as well as a place to study.

Career Development

After residents have been in the Life Skills program for nine months, they begin to search for jobs. The Education and Career Center provides assistance in obtaining a job for Life Skills Program residents and Aftercare residents including:

  • Career search workshops
  • One on one resume writing assistance
  • Job search assistance and coaching
  • Access to internet searching
  • Interview practice and coaching

Grace Centers of Hope is a faith based non profit organization committed to creating community by providing shelter, recovery and rehabilitation to men, women and children suffering from homelessness, drug addiction, alcoholism and/or spousal or parental abuse. Grace Center's comprehensive rehabilitation program includes; Food, Shelter, Clothing, Biblical Counseling, Life Skills Training, Parenting Training,On Site Child Care,Health & Wellness Classes, Medical/Dental Assistance, Education/GED Preparation/College Opportunities, Recreational/Physical Fitness,Vocational Training Opportunities, Aftercare Program.

In addition, Grace Centers of Hope works hand in hand with our sister inner city church Grace Gospel Fellowship, to provide life long christian commumity and growth for an ongoing recovery process.

Description

All programs and services provided by Grace Centers of Hope are designed to contribute significantely to the reduction of homelessness, to provide clients with opportunities for life changing recovery and to help break the intergenerational cycle of poverty and abuse. Programs and services are offered free of charge.
