Are you a Veteran searching for a way in which you can honor those brave women and men who served before you? At Heartland Hospice, we are always in need of Veterans from each branch of military service to visit with patients and families who are on the hospice journey. We have an increasing number of patients who are veterans, who desire the companionship of fellow veterans for connection and with whom they can share stories .

The mission of Heartland Hospice is to provide quality hospice care to patientse with a limited life expectancy, as well as support to their caregivers. The quality of life for those we serve is enhanced through specialized supportive care designed to meet the needs of the body, mind and spirit. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team consisting of the Medical Director, Registered Nurse, Health Aide, Social Worker,Chaplain and Volunteers. Heartland Hospice strives to provide care to all who are eligible and need hospice care regardless of ability to pay.
Volunteers offer services in both our office setting and in the field directly engaging with patients and families.
A multitude of our volunteers provide emotional & spiritual support through friendly visits patients within their homes or care facilities. These volunteers offer compassionate companionship, advocacy and outreach to patients and families through conversation, reading, relief sitting, letter writing, running errands, assistance with hobbies, music enrichment and art and other forms of sensory stimulation. Another volunteer opportunity includes sitting vigil with patients who are actively dying and who have no family present with them.
Volunteers serve in Baltimore City & County, Anne Arundel, Howard and Harford Counties.
