AccentCare's volunteer services are geared toward the special needs of our veterans. AccentCare is seeking volunteers with a history of military service to help us provide a listening presence for our veteran patients in hospice.
We recognize that veterans have unique needs and may feel most comfortable connecting with a volunteer who is also a veteran. For every veteran patient that comes onto our hospice service, we provide a We Honor Veteran Pinning Ceremony.
Providing a compassionate presence and listening ear can make a real difference, so join us and become an integral part of our AccentCare patient support team.
Since Vet-to-Vet Volunteers have direct patient contact, they must complete AccentCare Volunteer Training, have a valid driver’s license, successfully pass a background check, and complete a TB Test. Accentcare pays for background checks and TB Tests.

Description
Hospice volunteers both give and receive many benefits from joining our program.
Volunteers set their own levels of commitment and travel based on their available time and the needs of our patients. Volunteers serve our adult patients of all ages who live within the metro Atlanta area.
Volunteer selection begins with an application and interview where potential volunteers may express their personal goals, availability, interests, and talents.
Volunteers are carefully screened through a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, and personal references.
Direct Care Volunteers help by providing comfort, support, care, and compassion to our patients and their family members, and are required to participate in initial hospice volunteer training as well as basic orientation.
Indirect Care Volunteers help by providing administrative assistance on special projects that enhance the work of our staff and support patients, families and the efforts of the teams in the field. Indirect Care Volunteers receive basic orientation, training specific to task undertaking, and are encouraged to attend initial hospice volunteer training.Additional support meetings and educational opportunities are offered throughout the year as well as ongoing personal support and social gatherings.
