ORGANIZATION: HomePlate Youth Services

  • 61 people are interested

HomePlate is a safe space for youth experiencing homelessness and housing instability. We have a team of core volunteers at our drop-in locations that build empowering relationships with our diverse youth, and serve as a positive adult role models and mentors.

Core Drop-in volunteers are great listeners, friendly, and help support youth with accessing resources. Core volunteers do a variety of tasks during drop in, such as greeting people at the welcome table, helping with child care, coordinating arts and crafts, playing games, having conversations, helping with job searches, resumes, and more.

From 5:45pm to 8:20pm, core volunteers help on Monday in Beaverton, and Thursday in Hillsboro. We also have core volunteers serving from 1:45-5:15 on Tuesday in Beaverton.

It's a great way to meet new people, learn more about our community, and give back.

Core volunteers need to be at least 18 (preferably older), commit to volunteering every week for at least six months, fill out info for a background and reference check, interview, complete a volunteer application, and attend our four hour orientation and training for new volunteers.
