ORGANIZATION: Kawartha Lakes Food Source

Objective: to check all incoming food donations for quality; checking for dented, ripped, or damaged packaging; repair or repackage food as deemed appropriate. To sort food donations according to defined categories for inventory purposes

Time Commitment:

  • approximately 3 hours during any day in the sorting schedule (2 nd and 3 rd weeks of each month)
  • hours of warehouse operation are from 9am to 4:30pm weekdays

Skills Required:

  • minimum age 18
  • Canadian Police Information Check/Personal reference checks required
  • Sort various nonperishable food items
  • Lifting approx. 30 pounds
  • Standing for 2-3 hour period of time
  • Ability to remain focused in a sometimes noisy and busy environment
  • Reliable
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Safety specific clothing

Kawartha Lakes Food Source is a community effort to reduce hunger in the City of Kawartha Lakes by: 1-maintaining a central warehouse to supply food to organizations that provide food to individuals in need, 2-raising awareness, and 3-working in concert with other local not for profit organizations

Description

Kawartha Lakes Food Source is a small not for profit organziation located in Lindsay Ontario and supports the City of Kawartha Lakes local food banks as well as supporting school breakfast programs in the local community. Our organization has one full time staff (Executive Director) and 4 part time staff. Volunteers play a key component in supporting the work that we do,
