Teach Basic Computer Skills Remotely with Open Door Learning Center - Midway!
Partner with an adult student learning basic computer skills. Meet new people from your community and work with them to build digital literacy skills and achieve their goals through distance education.
Sound like something you're interested in? Volunteer remotely with Open Door Learning Center - Midway!
- No experience or diploma needed - we’ll provide all necessary training
- English speakers of all levels are welcome and encouraged to volunteer
- Time commitment is 30-90 minutes once per week
- Must be 18 years old to volunteer
- We strongly encourage volunteers who are people of color, indigenous, immigrants and refugees, LBGTQ+ and people with disabilities.
Anytime Remote Volunteer Opportunities (Using Zoom)
Remote 1:1 Computer Tutors: Teach basic computer skills to at least one adult learner one or more days per week for 30-60 minutes. Some experience with Zoom, Email, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Social Media preferred, expertise not required. All tutoring materials and training will be provided.
Ideal candidate will demonstrate ability to:
- Autonomously schedule and keep meetings
- Rephrase and repeat instructions in a clear manner
- Use strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to create a focused, warm and welcoming learning environment

Founded in 1972, Literacy Minnesota is Minnesota's only non-profit, volunteer-based, education provider that operates statewide. Through a network of over 100 community and school-based programs, we provide free classes for individuals lacking the most basic reading, writing and English-speaking skills. We serve both native-born Americans and refugees and immigrants.
