CLAIM answers questions about Medicare for Missourians.

CLAIM stands for "Community Leaders Assisting the Insured of Missouri." We have been the official State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) for Missouri since 1993. We are a nonprofit organization and all of our services are free, unbiased and confidential. We are not an insurance agency. We do not sell anything and our counselors do not ask Missourians for money.

CLAIM has more than 300 volunteer counselors throughout Missouri providing local Medicare counseling in their communities and we are looking for volunteers in your community. Volunteers receive extensive training by participating in a four-day comprehensive Medicare training course, as well as by receiving an additional 12 hours of continuing education trainings annually.

Volunteers help Missourians work through and understand Medicare options, benefits and/or changes. CLAIM counselors can assist with:

  • Medicare eligibility, enrollment and claims forms
  • Employment and retirement health benefit questions
  • Supplemental insurance policies
  • Medicare Advantage options, such as HMO's and PPO's
  • Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage
  • Long-term care planning
  • Public benefit programs
  • Fraud and abuse

To find out more about CLAIM visit our website at www.missouriclaim.org.

CLAIM is funded by the Administration for Community Living (ACL) grant through the Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration and services are provided by Primaris Foundation, a non-profit founded by Primaris.

A Volunteer Opportunity with Perks:

CLAIM is pleased to announce our partnership with AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps is the domestic version of the Peace Corps and offers our volunteers an opportunity to serve as AmeriCorps Members offering typical CLAIM services. Members receive a small living allowance plus, upon completion of a term of service, an Education award of up to $2,885.00 that can be used for yourself or gifted to your children, foster children or your grandchildren. If you live in St. Louis City or County and are interested in this opportunity to give something back to your community, please contact, Natalie Heath at 573-817-8300 ext. 140 or nheath@primaris.org.

We are currently offering half-time (average of 18 hours per week) and quarter-time (average of 9 hours per week) positions. Living stipend and education award amount determined by position type. All AmeriCorps members must complete CLAIM Initial Training before AmeriCorps Training. Please complete a volunteer application today at www.missouriclaim.org/volunteer-application!
