Would you like to be part of unique physical education and social awareness program specifically designed for children in grades K-5th? Our YOGA123 class is a unique 12-week program focusing on physical, social and emotional growth. We work with the class to help students develop their stress management skills, increase self-confidence and enhance positive attitudes toward themselves and others.

With a combination of yoga stretching and breathing techniques, repetitive positive words and mood cards, the YOGA123 program is inspirational and educational to the students, the teachers and community. Our objective is to provide the opportunity for children to incorporate healthy daily habits by incorporating the use of these well-being techniques to encourage positive self confidence both in the classroom and at home.Our curriculum also aligns with many of the California State- Physical Education Standards.

Responsibilities: The main responsibility of the yoga instructor is to teach elementary school students basic yoga postures, and to encourage healthy self-regulation and a positive attitude (We will provide training to all potential instructors). We currently teach in Title1 schools in the South Bay and Los Angeles area, so you must have reliable transportation.

Time Required: Willing to teach approximately 2 classes per week at approximately 1.5 hours per class. Each instructor will be asked to commit for one a minimum of one semester and classes run from Sept to June. Your impact will reach approx. 150 students per school year. These classes are taught during school hours and usually occur in the first half of the day.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Physically fit and flexible
  • Calm and comfortable exuding a positive energy during sessions
  • Ability to explain and teach the movements and principles of yoga to young students
  • Knowledgeable of "asana" or the postures of yoga, as well as the relaxation and the breathing required
  • Love and enjoy working with elementary children
