We are looking for volunteers in Central Fairfax Virginia to participate in our Friendly Caller Program. Though this is a remote opportunity, we prefer volunteers from within our local service area to include these zip codes: 22015,22032,22030,22031, 22309.
Many local area seniors living in central and south Fairfax County and Burke, find themselves feeling isolated, lonely, and would enjoy having a phone call from a caring volunteer. Our organization is seeking 2-3 volunteers who can volunteer an hour a week to place a phone call to a senior living in their community. Volunteers will be trained and a police clearance background check conducted on your behalf. This is a rewarding and enjoyable experience for our volunteers as well as the senior being contacted. The seniors our volunteers meet often have led interesting lives, they enjoy sharing their stories. The time and frequency of the calls can be flexible. Description
The Shepherd's Center of Fairfax-Burke was established in 2006 as a non-profit organization that supports older adults in the local community. SCFB provides medical and shopping transportation, social events, exercise classes, luncheons, and educational classes to seniors, age 50+, so they may live independently and with dignity.
