Your greatest gifts are your time caring nature, willingness to listen, and collaboration with our care giving team! Volunteering can be as simple as sitting by the bedside, reading a book, or playing music for our patients and their family members, as well as proving respite care, and emotional and social support.
Sutter Care at Home - Santa Rosa Hospice is looking for compassionate and outstanding volunteers throughout Sonoma County!
No matter if you are a college student, parent, between the jobs, retired from your professional career or actively working, you can deepen or learn new interpersonal skills through your simple compassionate presence with our patients!
We will provide you with our informative training and ongoing support. We also welcome certified professionals who wish to provide massage/art/music/pet therapy per patient request.
Requirements
We ask all our volunteers to agree to a one year commitment for anywhere from 1-4 hours a week.
Our volunteers are required to receive or show verification of an annual Flu shot and Tuberculin skin test or blood test, provide immunization records or titers showing immunity to MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and Varicella, show proof of TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), complete a drug screen and a health screening, consent to a criminal background check, and submit a copy of current driver’s license and auto insurance. Sutter will provide health screening and any necessary tests or vaccinations.

Description
To become a hospice volunteer at Sutter Care at Home the greatest gift you can offer is your time, your caring nature, and your willingness to listen. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills and enhance existing ones. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.
Volunteers may stay with the patient to give the caregiver some time away or time to rest and they can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families. While volunteers cannot provide clinical or personal care, they may be able to assist with routine tasks and errands.
Requirements: Volunteers receive 24 hours of training, health clearance and a background check, and attend monthly educational meetings. They must work closely with Volunteer Program Coordinator as members of the hospice team.
