NeighborLink Indianapolis(NLI) is a small nonprofit organization that provides free home repairs and related services to low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities who own their own home and live within Marion County, Indiana. These repairs and services are at no charge to the homeowner so they can remain independent and age safely in place.
NLI is powered by volunteers. Our home repair projects provide great volunteer and team building opportunities for groups from churches, universities, businesses and organizations. This can be a one-time three hour commitment, or a multi-day commitment, depending on the group's interest.
Due to COVID-19, we are limiting group projects to outdoor yard work and clean-up for the remainder of 2020. We are limiting group size to no more than 10 volunteers to allow for appropriate distancing and we require each volunteer to bring their own mask and work gloves to wear during the event. Our shifts are generally from 9a-12n but we can consider altering the schedule with advance notice and if our resources can support. Dates are flexible.
You can help champion the NLI cause by connecting us to or helping to organize a group to volunteer together. Our group projects make great service and team-building opportunities for businesses, faith-based organizations, schools, etc where volunteers get to see and feel the immediate impact of their work.

Mission Statement
NeighborLink Indianapolis mission is to help older adults and individuals with disabilities who own their own homes age in place safely and with dignity. We do this by providing home repair at no cost to the homeowner.
Description
We focus on home repairs that enable the homeowner to age in place safely, stabilize the home for years to come, and provide an improved appearance for the neighborhood at large. Many of the repairs we provide would be able to be done by the homeowner if they had the means or physical ability. By using volunteers we are able to help the homeowner as well as provide that intimate experience of truly being the hands and able-body for someone else.
Most older adults want to age in the most affordable home-the one they own. Aging in place allows older adults some level of autonomy and dignity over their own health and decisions. It allows many to remain within communities they’ve been a part of for decades. Social determinants of health, particularly including the ability to keep their home safe and accommodating to their physical needs, are among some of the most challenging barriers to aging in place.
