A Free Bird is a 501(C)(3)non-profit organization based in New York City. Our focus is to provide children, ages 6-18 who are patients or survivors of juvenile cancer, the opportunity to explore their artistic passions and give them the strength to fight their disease. We believe that artistic expression is critical for healing! A Free Bird supports children affected by cancer in their exploration of art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing and any other artistic passion they may have.

Overall Responsibilities:

Coordinates and implements marketing strategies where the marketing coordinator will create brand awareness, work closely with the PR department to coordinate events, media coverage, also relies on limited experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. This is a six month commitment.


-Attends all meetings of the Organization at least weekly.

-Must support and maintain mission goal and statement of organization.

-Build and maintain relationships with resources and/or referrals/ other companies

-Ability to set daily, weekly, and monthly goals which will encourage growth for the organization.

-Effectively maintain and manage a marketing budget consistently referring to Marketing Manager or President of the organization.

-Create, deliver, and optimize marketing materials.

-Research media coverage and the industry’s trend.

-Developing continuous stories for the AFB

-Producing additional marketing communications such as flyers, posters, stamps, exhibition-related projects.

-Produce clear and concise written correspondence in the form of letters, emails, etc.

- Assisting team members with day to day marketing tasks and coordinating marketing projects and activities as requested.


-1-2 years of experience within a marketing setting.

-A Bachelors degree or working towards a bachelor degree whether in Fundraising, Marketing, Strategy, etc.

-Ability to work under pressure and multitask assignments given to other volunteers and interns.

-Engage other volunteers/interns in work associated with AFB and continue to assist in any way possible.
