YWCA Passage Point is a supportive housing program for parents who would otherwise be homeless and are reuniting with their children and families. At Passage Point, we empower parents and children to gain the skills and confidence necessary to become self-sufficient.
The Children's Art Teacher volunteer will work with the Passage Point Services department, in conjunction with the Passage Point Children's Advocate, to help youth cultivate creative expression through art.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and organize art activities
- Work directly with children and families (supervised by Children's Advocate)
- Encourage a fun and inspiring atmosphere for the youth and families
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Patience, ability to remain calm in a crisis
- Creativity
- Experience working with youth and families
- Experience working with children with developmental delays and experiences of childhood trauma preferred
- Minimum age: 16 years old
- Available for 1-3 hours per week in the afternoon (Mon-Fri)

All volunteers must undergo an interview, submit 2 character references, complete a background check, and attend a YWCA Volunteer Orientation (see website for dates and locations).
