Volunteer: Development / Grant Research

Cause Areas

It's flexible! We'll work with your schedule.

This is a Virtual Opportunity, with no fixed address.

CourseWorld.org, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that manages a video library of 50,000 free Liberal Arts lectures, is looking for a part-time volunteer to assist with our development and grant research efforts.

Priorities include: Researching potential funders and grant opportunities (via an Internet database); customizing and sending letters of inquiry / grant proposals; tracking responses; assisting CEO in cultivating relationships with partners and donors.

Targeted funders include foundations, charities, private sector corporations, and individual donors.

Time commitment is flexible based on your availability; ideally we are looking for consistent and reliable help over the course of at least two to three months. You are welcome to perform these activities virtually/remotely, on your own schedule. If desired, you will also be considered a member of our Global Advisory Board.

You will make a tremendous impact on our new educational technology initiative which currently operates without funding. Together, let's make it possible for anyone in the world to access a quality liberal arts education for free.

Please apply via LinkedIn or email your resume and cover letter to justin [at] courseworld.org

While prior development experience is a plus, it is not required. Above all, we are looking for a volunteer who is highly self-motivated, committed, and organized, with an interest in helping to grow our initiative. Remote applicants are welcome.

1. Everyone deserves a world-class education for free.

2. Educational videos should be easy to discover and access.

3. In a world that glorifies celebrities, athletes, music icons, politicians, entrepreneurs, and the like, it’s time we turned teachers into rock stars.

4. Technology is only as good as the humanity behind it; people give meaning to platforms (e.g., via curating, categorizing, and crowdsourcing).

5. The liberal arts are core to who we are and merit the best resources we have.
