The Animals & Society Institute is seeking an intern to assist with the day to day operations for our nonprofit organization. The intern will report directly to the Managing Director, and will also work with ASI staff and contractors. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students or those who wish to start a career in the nonprofit sector as it is designed to teach nonprofit management basics.

Openings: 1 per semester

Start: Currently recruiting for Summer 2018 (May-August)

Length: Minimum of one semester

Location: ASI main office in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Hours: Flexible; minimum of 10 per week (during regular business hours)

Wage: Unpaid

Duties and Responsibilities

Work closely with Managing Director on projects that may include:

  • Program development, SalesForce database management, project management and community outreach

  • Processing donations and handling thank you letters

  • Working with Constant Contact email letter list

  • Day to day operations

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office

  • Familiarity with Google Suites (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.)

  • interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

What you will get out of the Internship

  • Experience with writing e-newsletters using Constant Contact

  • Experience with processing donations and using SalesForce
