Social Media Internship (unpaid)
This position may lead to a part-time position, once the café is open.
Must live on Long Island
Harmony Café is a nonprofit organization-The café isn’t open as of yet. We are seeking a location. For now we will be conducting lunch events each moth at the VFW hall in Patchogue. We will simulate harmony Cafe and run the lunches as "pay what you can afford" lunch events.

We need to get the community excited about the mission and vision of the café.
We need to build buzz and get support from the community.
The person for this position must have great passion to help others and believe in our mission. Must know about nutrition and healthy eating and health issues. You don’t need a degree, but great knowledge is needed.
The café will be the first nonprofit community café on Long Island.
Below is the description for the position-however, if you don’t meet all the requirements but have related experience, please apply.

Hours-10 hours a week is required-remote position.

Social media content creation: · Draft content for external communications, blogs and social networking platforms. · Use creative means to plan, organize, and implement a range of social media programs and/or events. · Contribute to and regularly update external social sites: such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and other community sites. · Develop content calendar for these sites. Social media community management: · Respond to stakeholder inquiries and comments on established channels in real time as necessary. · Listen to and monitor all social media outlets: pages, sites, and post/respond on particular topics or in response to other post/comments. · Convey a sense of community and build our following based on valuation content and mutual sharing. Website research and monitoring.


Education and/or experience: · Working towards a degree in in Communications, Journalism or equivalent combination of professional and academic experience. · 2 years of experience planning, testing, launching, monitoring, optimizing and measuring social media campaigns preferred. Former nonprofit experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills: · Expert level knowledge of leveraging social media technologies such as Face book, Twitter and working knowledge of web analytics software.
Language skills: · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to communicate effectively with target population of Long island and NY through the use of social media. · Ability to create, compose, and edit written and electronic materials.

Is to build an inclusive community and promote health by offering high-quality healthy meals, based on a pay-what-you-can donation model. Serving our guests in a respectful and dignified matter in a café setting, where everybody eats, regardless of means.

Description

Providing the basic need for food and community in welcoming gathering place for all our community members, regardless of their means. Dining together and supporting one another in building friendships and a healthier community.

Harmony Cafe for the past two years had monthly luncheon at Noon on the second Wednesday of each month at our temporary location at the VFW post-2913 on 32 Edwards Street in Patchogue, NY. We used a Pay-What-You-Can donation model. We had no prices on the menu, we had a suggested donation instead. Our lunches were two and a half hours in length and include live music. It was a social event meant to bring the community together, regardless of social status. We all deserve to have access to healthy food in an environment that is free of judgment and stigma for all people. Harmony Cafe is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization.
We are working on new ways to bring harmony cafe's concept to other towns on Long Island.
We are creating a Pop Up events across Long Island. Farm to table events as well as Pay What You Can lunch and dinner events.
Our goal is to have our storefront that will be open five days a week for lunch and dinner.
