We really appreciate all our volunteers and would love to have you as part of our team. With our program, volunteers (Reading Buddies) work one-on-one with 2nd grade students reading below grade level. Our Reading Buddies commit to just one hour a week to work with two 2nd grade students (thirty minutes with each student) for an entire school year.
Our staff at San Antonio Youth Literacy provides an hour and a half training that prepares all our Reading Buddies for reading tutoring. We also provide continued support throughout the year, so you never feel like you are in this alone! Your school choice will be based on your preferred location and time you are available during the day. We always work to place you in a school that is most convenient for you!

Our Reading Buddy program is a volunteer reading tutor program administerd by San Antonio Youth Literacy where we train volunteers to read and work with at-risk elementary school-aged children.
