The Family Justice Center of St. Joseph County is a comprehensive center where community partners co-locate services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The FJC brings civil, legal, medical and social service experts together to provide survivors and their families multiple options to restore balance to their lives.

SOS is the rape crisis center for St. Joseph County since 1974. In 1998 SOS extended its focus to include domestic violence. Today, it is a program of the Family Justice Center. SOS is in need of Advocate Volunteers to provide support, assist with intake assessments, protective orders, and respond to crisis calls. Volunteers for SOS and the FJC support, the foundations of the agency's mission and vision, and help to create a warm, welcoming, comfortable environment where victims of sexual and/or domestic violence can easily access expert community resources so healing can begin and victims can become survivors, empowered to restore balance to their lives, free from fear and force.

SOS Advocate volunteers receive 36 hours of training before beginning to assist victims/survivors in a variety of ways that provide support. Direct service opportunities are always greatly needed. Students from area colleges are welcome to volunteer or complete a class internship. We also welcome retirees, or any compassionate, caring adult who has time to devote to help others. Volunteer opportunities include: Crisis call line, intake assessment, hospital visits, being a good listener.
