Operations Consultant for Small Business

Deliver high quality, small business consulting to WomenVenture clients as they explore their business potential and opportunities. Meet with clients directly at WomenVenture on a one-on-one basis.

Skills and Qualifications:
The most successful operations volunteers have experience in the following areas:

•Four Year degree (in business, business operations or related field)
•Experience reviewing business plans.
•Ability to define operational models for clients with standard operating procedures, governance criteria, roles and responsibilities.
•Experience setting up new small business infrastructure, such as accounting software (including POS, payroll and HR), customer data management tools, IT systems software and hardware, digital inventory systems, and business equipment.
•Experience with inventory management, merchandising, establishing relationships with vendors, suppliers, and sales personnel.
•Demonstrated ability to translate small business challenges into process/technical solutions as part of the production cycle, sales cycle, daily operational flow, distribution channels, or fulfillment cycle.
•Ability to understand and interpret financial statements and cash flow projections.
•Demonstrated examples of improving specific business’ financial outcomes by interpreting financial statements and recommending specific operational solutions.
•Familiarity with value proposition/positioning and new product development.
•Commitment to WomenVenture’s Mission and passion for entrepreneurship.
•Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
•Professional dress and attitude.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.

Preferred:
•Experience launching new business ventures
•Teaching, coaching, or facilitation experience
•Prior experience consulting with small businesses
•Small Business owners a plus

Commitment:
Consultants commit to meeting with WomenVenture clients on a case-by-case basis at their convenience. Timing is flexible.
