This position is for volunteers who will meet every Sunday at 10 am. We are in great need of dependable volunteers. Please contact us before coming so that we can plan for you. (Facebook.com/fortheloveofpawsutah - then send a private message!) Once you have been accepted as a volunteer, we rely upon your presence so please communicate if you cannot make it!
We need humans who are great with all kinds of dogs - from chihuahuas to pitbulls (If you find us on facebook, you will see the range of animals we help). You will be fitting them with collars, harnesses, coats and sweaters. It is important that you have an understanding of fitting a dog and working closely with owners. We need volunteers who can handle tense situations and help us maintain a calm atmosphere. Because of the conditions, we (extremely rarely!) see fighting. Volunteers must keep a calm head and should know how to separate dogs SAFELY. Volunteer duties will mainly be to communicate with other volunteers, making bags (fill with food, treats, toys), and/or fitting collars, coats, etc. You will be trained when you arrive and questions are highly encouraged!
For the Love of Paws is a grass roots, growing 501(c)3 organization run 100% by donations and volunteers.

About For The Love Of Paws
Location:
PO BOX 1271, SANDY, UT 84091, US
Mission Statement
We are advocates for the pets of homeless Utahans. The shelters cannot accept people with pets, so these humans sacrifice the warmth and comfort of a bed and sleep in a tent, car, under freeways, etc. in order to keep their animal companions. A lot of the animals are service animals for veterans that have served in the Armed forces for our country.
Description
For the Love of Paws hands out donations to the homeless for their animal companions. We fit these animals for the extreme cold weather in Utah by bundling them with a warm sweater, then covering with a waterproof parka. When needed, they get a collar and leash as well as a collapsible water bowl, toys, and other items to make the dogs comfortable. Each week, they are replenished with a supply of food and treats.
