Welcome to the Environmental Learning Center of Connecticut!- "Inspiring an appreciation for, and enjoyment of nature, through education and conservation, fostering a healthy environment and an improved quality of life".
We are looking for responsible animal lovers to assist with the care of our Farm Animals. Indian Rock Nature Preserve is the educational component of Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut, and showcases a demonstration farm with sheep, cow, pig, chicken and turkeys. IRNP is looking for volunteers age 14 and up to help care for our animals which would include offering food and fresh water daily, cleaning stalls and pens and enrichment. We have both morning and evening shifts available. Volunteer hours can be used for educational requirements for SAE and community service.
We are also looking to fill the morning (opening) shifts Monday through Friday. Adults with a love of animals are encouraged to apply!
ELCCT offers a diversity of hands-on experiential programs using a variety of resources and facilities. Our programs are offered at the Barnes Nature Center, Indian Rock Nature Preserve and in the schools of Connecticut. In 2015, we provided our environmental educational programs to over 32,000 children and families from over 70 Connecticut communities!
In addition to our education programs, ELCCT also serves as a land trust and has protected over 640 acres of land in Bristol and Burlington, Connecticut.
