The Muscles for Mckenna Gala is a fundraising event, in honor of Mckenna Ellixson, with one goal: to fund a cure for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Mckenna is a beautiful 7-year-old girl diagnosed with SMA. The Muscles for Mckenna Gala will be held on Friday, March 18, 2017 at the Crystal Tea Ballroom in Philadelphia, PA. The evening will entail a night of dinner and cocktails, silent auction, raffle items, live music entertainment provided by The Heartbeats, and the opportunity to meet with some local Philadelphia icons. All proceeds from this event will support Cure SMA.

Cure SMA is dedicated to the treatment and cure of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)--a disease that takes away a person’s ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants. Since 1984, we’ve directed and invested in comprehensive research that has shaped the scientific community’s understanding of SMA. We are currently on the verge of breakthroughs in treatment that will strengthen our children’s bodies, extend life, and lead to a cure. To learn more about Cure SMA, please visit us online at curesma.org.

We are currently seeking a graphic designer to join our Gala Committee that is willing to donate their time and services for free. This person will be working directly with our National Cure SMA staff member. We are looking for someone with very strong attention to detail, expertise in Photoshop, Illlustrator and InDesign, creativity and easy to work with. If interested, please email three samples of your work to Sarah Rodriguez at sarah@curesma.org.

Thank you!

Description

Cure SMA is dedicated to the treatment and cure of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)--a disease that takes away a person’s ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.

Since 1984, we’ve directed and invested in comprehensive research that has shaped the scientific community’s understanding of SMA. We are currently on the verge of breakthroughs in treatment that will strengthen our children’s bodies, extend life, and lead to a cure.

We have deep expertise in every aspect of SMA--from the day-to-day realities to the nuances of care options--and until we have a cure, we’ll do everything we can to support children and families affected by the disease.
