Board of Directors Members
The Sacramento Area Animal Coalition (SAAC) is seeking volunteer board members who share a desire to eliminate companion animal overpopulation through spay/neuter.
Ideal candidates are proactive, self-motivated, collaborative, able to work independently, and comfortable using computers and Internet technology.
The Sacramento Area Animal Coalition is 100 percent volunteer run with no paid staff. We are a "working board" and directors take an active role in shaping policies, running programs, raising funds, and building relationships with area animal shelters. Board directors do not engage in hands-on animal care as part of their duties.
Board members should be able to devote at least 10 hours per month to board activities, mostly working independently .
We are in particular need of people with the following skills:
Accounting and bookkeeping
Email marketing
Fundraising
Legal
Organizational Leadership
Public relations
Salesforce
Social media
Board Member Requirements
Be at least age 18
Attend monthly board meetings
Commit to a three-year term
Have easy access to computer with an Internet connection
Take an active role in the annual Spay Day event
Participate in at least one additional committee, taking an active role in program management and operations
Support fundraising efforts
Support board member and volunteer recruitment and orientation
Promote SAAC in accordance with its mission and code of ethics

Much of the work of the SAAC board is conducted via the Internet. Board members should have access to a computer with Internet connectivity and be comfortable using it. The board meets once per month, with committee business taking place mostly via email and phone.

The Sacramento Area Animal Coalition (SAAC) is a nonprofit, charitable organization with 501(c)(3) status. SAAC is committed to eliminating companion animal overpopulation in the Sacramento area through aggressive spay-neuter efforts, humane education, community outreach and networking. SAAC is entirely volunteer run, and our work is solely supported by donations and grants. With no staff and minimal overhead, more than 99 percent of donations go directly to spay/neuter animals in the Sacramento region.
