Disasters Happen, You Can Help: Disaster Mental Health Counselor

ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Wisconsin Region

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Support the Red Cross & Disaster Services by providing professional mental health services to disaster clients, their families and other Red Cross volunteers at disaster shelters, service delivery sites, relief operations headquarters and over the phone. Services includes psychological triage, crisis intervention, assessment, and behavioral health consultation.

OPEN TIME DAYS

1-2 hours (average) shifts per disaster response.

Number of responses vary per month.


REQUIRED TRAINING

Orientation to the American Red Cross

Online & Classroom training course list will be provided (approx. 10 hrs of training).

One-on-one mentoring and support from current Disaster Mental Health Services Counselors.
