Volunteer to save the bees

ORGANIZATION: UC Davis Bee Haven

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 129 people are interested

We love volunteers at the Haven! The majority of garden maintenance is done by volunteers: you are vital to our success. Volunteer tasks include routine garden maintenance: planting, weeding, mulching, etc. You will work outside, learn about bees and bee habitat, and meet fellow bee-lovers. No experience required, but volunteers should be prepared to work in a variety of weather conditions.

Regular volunteer shifts take place on Tuesday mornings. Volunteers also help with special events and tasks, usually on Saturday mornings. This includes educational open houses, fundraising events, and preparation of garden displays.

About UC Davis Bee Haven

Location:

ONE SHIELDS AVENUE - TAX REPORTING, DAVIS, CA 95616, US

Mission Statement

The UC Davis Bee Haven is a unique outdoor museum where visitors can observe and learn about bees and the plants that support them.

Description

The Haven was planted in the spring of 2009. We are supported wholly by donations, grants, and volunteers.

The half-acre garden, which includes a working beehive, is planted with over 200 species of plants that are attractive to bees. In addition to the non-native honey bee, 80 species of native bees have been observed in the garden.

The Haven is open every day during daylight hours for self-guided tours. We also host many group tours and eductional events throughout the year.
