Make a difference in the lives of girls in our community.
Warm-up your spirit fingers, lace up your sneakers, and inspire a group of girls to be strong, healthy, and confident. Teams of volunteer coaches facilitate our easy to follow curriculum with groups of 8-20 girls over the course of ten weeks. Amidst the conversation, laughter, hugs, and energy awards, you will witness a transformation in the girls. Don’t be surprised if you realize that you are positively changing as well! The program may end in ten weeks, but for our coaches and girls, the finish line is just the beginning.
Coaches are not required to be runners; they simply must be passionate about the mission of Girls on the Run, be committed to working with a group of girls after school throughout the ten week season, and bring energy and joy to each practice.
The volunteer commitment is for a ten week season, beginning in either September or February and finishing with the 5K celebrations in either December or May. Coaching a team during a season requires a time commitment of 1.5-2 hours, twice a week after school. These days differ from team to team, with each site establishing its meeting days. Most teams meet either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday each week for ten weeks. Please see our website for more information about coaching for Girls on the Run: http://www.girlsontherunsola.org/get-involved/coach. If you have any questions, please contact Michele.Dunbar@girlsontherun.org.
