Georgia Homeless Pets

As a foster, you have the opportunity to change the life of a cat or dog by welcoming them into your house and treating them as a member of your family. You are also saving two lives. The life of the foster you take in as well as the life of another cat or dog that the shelter now has room to house.

All vetting is paid and we just ask that your foster attend adoptions at least twice a month and attend any of our special events that allow for pets. Help save a life today.

Mission Statement

Mission Statement:

Georgia Homeless Pets is a private, non-profit, all volunteer no-kill animal rescue for dogs and cats in need. Our mission is to save, care for and place animals into loving homes, promote population control through sterilization and encourage proper veterinary care, all in an effort to eliminate the euthanasia of animals in Georgia’s public shelters.

OUR MISSION

In 2008, a group of volunteers formed GA Homeless Pets with the vision that one day GA Homeless Pets would be able to house our homeless animals in a peaceful & safe sanctuary/facility suitable for long term stay. This will provide our pets with a quiet and peaceful atmosphere where they will have space to live and play until placed into foster or adoptive homes. It will also allow our volunteers to have easy and frequent access to the animals.Georgia Homeless Pets relies on donations to exist, and we still need funding for a sanctuary, as well as the ongoing expenses of food, medical care, supplies, and boarding. Without help from YOU, there is no US.

It is important to have a place for these animals to call home while they are given immediate medical attention, training in socialization (many of these animals have never been around other animals), and training in basic commands such as sit, come, stay, potty training, or walking with a leash.

Our cats are all in foster homes, and some of our dogs are lucky to have foster homes, as well; but some of our dogs are boarded in a nice boarding facility, but it can be stressful for them, and they long for a foster home and/or a forever home of their very own. In the care of loving foster parents, these pets are cared for, and nursed back to good physical and mental health. This helps them learn how to live in a real home, and helps them stay socialized. The cats and dogs are taken to one of our 3 adoption sites each weekend to hopefully find their forever families.

In the Atlanta area alone, there are more than 100,000 animals destroyed each year for lack of a home.

Description

Words cannot describe how much each and every volunteer is appreciated and how everyone plays such an integral role in helping Georgia Homeless Pets achieve our mission to help animals in need.

The ones who appreciate your dedication the most are the ones who cannot speak to say it. That's not to say that they don't show it. You can see it in their eyes, you can hear it in their purrs, you can see it when they wag their tails to greet you. These animals depend on and love you,and you give them the best gift of all: you, your time, your attention, and your love. You are their second chance at life.
